John M. Rossi, Moto-Bio.
"Let the beauty we love be what we do." Rumi 1970¹sJohn Rossi¹s motorcycling experience began on Maico and CZ moto-cross bikes riding the rugged terrain shaped by nature and more than a century of anthracite coal mining in Northeast Pennsylvania. It was a moto-cross playground for a 14-year old made up of musty, iron rich clay trails and sweet, sulfur smelling black sand and shale piles. Regular fuel cost .34 cents a gallon and racing icons Roger DeCoster, Gayland Mosier, and Brad Lackey were seen on Sunday¹s at Unadilla, New York.
In winter, clutches and pistons were replaced, crushed pipes repaired, chain guides and tensioners crafted, and experimental frame/suspension modifications advanced the mechanical boundaries of the sport. An avid skier from age seven, John became a teacher at fifteen and PSIA Certified Ski Instructor and Alpine Racing Coach at eighteen. Skiing and motorcycling offered a seamless continuity of velocity skills and served as a year-round training regiment to hone a competitive spirit of endurance, determination, and precision technique from an early age. 1980¹s

The 1974 BMW and 1963 BMW R69S he fully restored were often the focal point of discussions among fellow designers, engineers, and architects at the College. His R69S resides among the New York Film Academy vintage collection of BMWs. 1990¹s A new 900 DUCATI Supersport fulfilled the need for speed and skills development on the track as a licensed amateur road racer and the passion for Italian motorcycles was found.
